While she wants to continue along these sensual waves of feelings, she begins to feel ashamed. Scared of not being the “nice” girl that her mother wants her to be, she pushes her dear friends aside and runs away without further contact with them.
Now, a few years later, her past comes to haunt her as she spies Robert walking across the yard to rest after his tour at war. As they reconnect and he gives her the necessary forgiveness, her heart takes flight once again as she begins to know true happiness that she hasn’t felt since the last time she was in his company. With Freddie and Patrick also coming home to recuperate, she learns to accept her love and their love as destiny brings them together once more.
This was a beautiful book that was as sensual as it was touching. Ms. Guillone spins us a haunting tale of innocent love, trembling desires, regret of lost time, and rediscovering the true joys of life. I fell in love with the characters as the plot kept my fingers turning the pages. Definitely a great book to read when you want a little escape from reality that focuses on being true to yourself.
