Fiction, Mystery
Reviewed by Rachel Olivier

Everyone knows about the problems beset by public schools these days in terms of lack of funding as well as other problems like violence. This story takes those problems up a level when it's discovered that the principal has been murdered on school grounds, and Andy Farmer, curmudgeonly biology teacher and former marine, is one of the prime suspects. Yet, even when cleared, he prods at the evidence and asks questions that will get him into trouble before the ultimate end and revelation. Although short in length, this tale is a good puzzle with a surprising twist at the end. Once again, Lively has created a fairly believable individual who pulls the reader along through the story despite her own tendency to use him to proselytize her faith. While brief, it is a nice little read.
