Driving fast, his spirit restless; Evan Harris strived to put as much distance between himself and New York City as he possibly could. He had no idea of where he was going, only that he was driven by some unspeakable need. He drove until the tense knot inside him began to ease as he left the remains of the city and plunged into the wild countryside.
The sky began to turn dark and wild, echoing his tumultuous heart, and then the unexpected happens. His car dies. His cell phone has no service. He is stranded in the middle of nowhere, lost, on a backcountry road. Cursing his car and decision to follow his instincts; he decides to hoof it to the nearest town for help. The approaching storm overtakes him and he begins to run to find shelter. The fog starts rolling and he hears a haunting voice calling to him out of the darkness. The name Armand floats through the haze and seems somehow familiar. He approaches a house off in the distance and it beckons him through the fog and rain. The front door opens of it’s own accord when he stands on the porch. He enters the house and is assailed by the familiar scent of roses and warmth. He follows the scent and snuggles down by a crackling fire, resting to wait out the storm. His dreams are fraught with visions and he is wrapped in desire as a woman with flaming red hair and gray eyes tantalizes him. He awakens and sees her faded photo on the wall and is immediately aroused. Exploring the house further; he finds her sleeping form, in the flesh, in the bedroom. Giselle awakens to find Evan leering down at her naked body, and she knows from the moment she looks into his eyes, that it truly is her Armand, who has reincarnated and come back to her like he promised.
This book is a wonderful love story combined with vivid sensuality. The love scenes between the couple are sensual, arousing, and combine the elements of romantic lovemaking beautifully with raw sexuality. This is an excellent read.
