When I first started reading From Darkness to Light, I thought that the book held a good deal of potential. The author immediately stated that people can realize their greater potential with spiritual faith. To me, it makes sense that a greater understanding of oneself and the world around them as well as a feeling of value and belonging in the world should lead to one to be more confident in following his or her dreams. I was ready to hear more.

The author then followed his thought with a notation that his mentor channels spirits from the Other Side. Interesting, I thought. I was eager to find out what this mentor had to say and how the average person could realize his or her full potential.

I was to be disappointed. The commentary quickly turned into a rant about satanic entities, governmental plots, and religious conspiracies. Although I found the author’s life story very interesting and appreciate his passion, I really didn’t think that the conspiracy tirade that lasted almost 300 pages was very appropriate to the spiritual topic at hand. Perhaps more appropriate to a political, alternate history, occult conspiracy genre.
