A concerted fan of Midnight Summer Murders, already charmed by Inspector Barnaby, I fell in love at once with Marcus Barrs Haggard Hawk. Superb cover graphics perfectly encapsulate, not only the crime theme, the title. A sharp opening with the Ryders, brilliant dialogue, and the rest is utterly effortless. Plot flows. A fine dollop of humour Marcus Barr adores a play with words. He is terrific to read. Top-notch characterization, fascinating individuals one would love or hate, I did wonder about the author himself; would I find him as irresistible as his books? He is an experienced hand with an exceptional mind I would anytime love to read, give anything to explore. Haggard Hawk is a novel I have been thrilled to squeeze into my favourites slot next to Toni Morrison not many qualify. The author promises a detective whopper, and produces a whodunit dazzler. No fine editor or grand promo does this: Marcus Barr rocks. 9.5 out of 10, more Id give. But we cannot afford complacency, can we? I look forward with earnest to the next story in the series.
