Howard’s grandmother warned him about the Ward family. She used to say that there was something weird about the house because it was situated too close to the graves of the Ward family. She tried to scare him with superstitious stories about the family, how they never aged past their twenty-fifth birthday and how even after death their bodies stayed perfect and beautiful.
This superstitious nonsense didn’t scare Howard. In fact, the scientist became intrigued with the Ward family legacy. He was sure that the answer to the strange stories was genetic mutation. He was also convinced that their blood might be the key to reanimation.
Bring Me To Life is a great blend of science fiction and the paranormal. Howard is the typical hyper focused scientist caught up in his work. Morgan Ward is his subject. She’s highly unusual in her demure, in her abilities, and in the fact that she’s been dead for two hundred years. Together, they make a memorable story. I see potential for sequel or prequel for this one.
