Children’s Picture Book
Reviewed by Mayra Calvani

Danni is staying home while her mom goes out shopping. But there’s one problem: she’s really hungry, and she’s not supposed to have any sweets, treats, or other forms of junk food. Then rummaging in the freezer she find “Frozen Instant Macaroni”… not what one would call junk food, right?

Without reading the instructions, Danni puts the package into the microwave, which leads to disaster. What is a child to do when her house is filled with macaroni? Danni must find a way to solve the problem before her mom arrives.

The Macaroni Disaster is an enjoyable picture book that can be read to a small child or be read by a young reader. The illustrations are simple yet cute and fit the story well. The funny ending adds an unexpected twist. Without being preachy, the book offers a message that can be discuss with children—how one must always read instructions and never use the microwave without an adult’s permission or supervision.
