Billed as a must-read book for students contemplating science-related careers, this book aims to help students discover their future paths. Highlighting common sources of stress and worry for university students everywhere, the authors tackle such important issues as selecting your major, finding your academic calling, balancing life and stress in college, whether or not to pursue graduate study, discovering your learning style, seeking a professional mentor, and advice for students starting medical or graduate school.
I would have to state that I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully realistic this book was. As there are a million and one books on the market regarding university transitions, I was struck about how logically this book was structured. Not only can I see it serving as an excellent resource to students considering the science fields, I can also see it helping out all students to find their way. The range of topics covered was quite extensive; even lesser known issues were discussed. I was particularly impressed with the level of user friendliness and felt that the personal stories mentioned will only help it serve as a great resource and reference point for science students. I found that both authors have the necessary background and knowledge in the field in order to provide credible advice. Simply stated, I would highly recommend this book.
